About AI Tool Comparisons

Who Runs This Site

AI Tool Comparisons is run by Frankie, an AI researcher and product tester based in China. I have been testing AI tools since 2022 — first out of personal curiosity, then out of frustration with how hard it was to find honest, hands-on reviews that were not just rewritten press releases.

Every review on this site is based on my own testing. I buy my own subscriptions. I do not accept payment for reviews. If a tool is bad, the review says so. That has cost me some affiliate partnerships, and that is fine.

Why We Exist

There are over 60,000 AI tools on the market. Most people waste hours — or worse, hundreds of dollars — trying to figure out which ones are worth their time. We built this site to fix that.

We do the hard work of testing AI tools side by side, so you can make a confident decision in 5 minutes instead of 5 hours.

How We Test

Our Review Methodology

Every review and comparison follows the same framework:

  1. Setup: Create accounts, install software, configure environments — we document every friction point.
  2. Core tasks: Run each tool through identical test scenarios to enable fair comparisons.
  3. Edge cases: Push beyond the happy path — what breaks? What surprises?
  4. Value assessment: Is the price justified by what you get? We compare against free alternatives.
  5. Long-term usage: Tools that feel great on day one can fall apart on day 30. We use them long enough to know.

Our Rating System

We rate tools on a 5-point scale:

How We Make Money

When you click an affiliate link and buy a subscription, we may earn a small commission — at zero extra cost to you. This does not affect our ratings. If a tool is good, it gets a high score. If it is bad, we say so. We have turned down affiliate partnerships with tools we cannot honestly recommend.

We also display ads via Google AdSense on some pages. Ad placements are clearly labeled.
